Grier Monument

The Grier Family Memorial Monument, completed in the Fall of 2024 and proudly honours the remarkable legacy of the Grier family in Guernsey, Iowa. This project stands as a powerful tribute their significant contributions to the community, serving as a gathering place for reflection and remembrance.

The monument features 3 panels that each encapsulate farm life in Iowa, and 4 stalks of corn, with hammered leaves and stalks, as well as poured bronze corn cobs.

One of my favourite cephalopods

This octopus was my 6th (large size) and favourite one! It is quite large, standing nearly 5' tall. What makes this one so special is the eye, it is almost like it is analyzing you. The colours I achieved with a vinegar mixture and metal waxes.

Crow & Limber Pine Fireplace backdrop

Pictured here are 2 panels that stand behind a wood–burning stove. Cut into the panels are crows and a limber pine tree. I aged the steel with a mixture of vinegar and salt, and followed up with a clear–coat. The result gave a blank wall some drama and character.

A Horse for Jean

Horse–shoe sculpture made in the Summer of 2025. This piece was made to honour the life of a well–loved woman in the Crowsnest Pass. Countless hours went into creating this sculpture and the final setting is beyond beautiful.

My first Raven

Crafting a raven sculpture for a friend was a challenge that made me feel both excited and nervous. I carefully cut out each feather and welded them onto the body, which I formed in the forge using compressed air. The final piece exceeded my expectations and sparked a newfound passion for ravens and crows. With every new sculpture, I explore unique and fresh approaches.

This raven was named "Arthur" which was inspired by Peaky Blinders!

Spheres

I was commissioned to create a half sphere for a customer, and as I was building it, I thought of so many other ways to build a sphere–what else could I use in them?  We had a lot of spirals that my partner had previously made, and it was a good way to create a little extra wall space in the shop!
